Award-winning branding firm provides probono services for Simmons Business Plan Winner



Watertown, MA. February 17, 2009 –- Corey McPherson Nash (CMN) (www.corey.com.), a leading national branding and design firm based in Watertown, Mass, volunteered its services to African Ecohotels Services (AES).

African Ecohotels Services was the winning plan proposed by Jennifer Christian-Murtie, a graduate of the Simmons School of Management MBA program. CMN provided pro bono work for AES in developing the brand’s identity as part of the organization's effort to support sustainable business practices.



Christian-Murtie, who was born and raised in Kenya, believes Africa is an emerging market that has seen significant growth in tourism in recent years. AES will be a consultancy and referral practice for providers and customers supporting environmental, economic and sustainable development of the hotel and lodging industry in Africa. Christian-Murtie wants to create a partnership between travel agencies, tourists, hotels, and the local community to offer luxurious accommodations and services to guests while minimizing the impact on the environment and land and promoting economic development in that region.



CMN’s inspiration behind the design focuses on communicating a professional tone that expresses stability and trust. The shapes used to create the logo are drawn from the geometric forms found in Kenyan folk art and are arranged to form a house. By using brown and natural green colors, the design uses a warm tone and incorporates the idea of “under a green roof.”



“We are pleased to donate our services for such a worthy business idea and to help the Simmons School of Management,” said Andrea Naddaff, CMN Partner and Vice President of Business Development. CMN has a long history of donating its branding services to help move forward organizations’ marketing efforts. Past pro bono work has been done for clients such as Oxfam North America, American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA), Teen Prostitution Project for Home for Little Wanderers, Concord Museum, and the DeCordova Museum.
